Funko Fusion - Props

A selection of the props and some of the key interactive assets used throughout the game. They show the general art direction I was going for and how they can stand out and become their own thing from the background art.

As Lead Asset Artist it was my role to define a style that remained consistent but also fit with the general Funko art style, I also created all of the base shaders used for every asset. One of the key features for our art style was to chunk up and exaggerate important details. We limited ourselves in terms of material finishes to mimic the various finishes Funko use on their POP!s.

All assets rendered in Unreal Engine 5.

A selection of the props I made across the game. Most would be re-skinned and re-used as much as possible.

As per our art style we would chunk up and exaggerate the most important parts of each prop.

Another thing we did was create a modular set of greebles for these desks originally used in Battlestar Galactica. A set like this produced over 20 different computer desk variations.

Other modular sets were used to bulk out rooms full of supplies. All of these would be destructible in game with various parts flying off when hit.

The Amp which was used to shatter glass and create sound waves. I typically try and find original real-life reference for any buttons, levers and switches.

The CCTV terminal found across the game. Again I looked at a lot of 80's/90s VHS players and monitors until I find some which have details which can be bulked up and fit our art style.

The shoot panels used in Battlestar Galactica. These were modular and a variety of panel shapes could be swapped out along with the number of screens and what they displayed.

The gas cannisters used across The Thing. These types of carry-able props we oversized so in the animations the character could be seen struggling while walking with them.

The bouncepads. For any soft materials we emulated Funko's 'Flocked' material which is a rough fluffy material.

Even for each IPs safe room doors we had a basic guide which could be re-skinned to theme the IP. Always in the Funko blue colour with gold details and crowns towards the bottom.

I also created some of the extra assets used in the HUB. For example this life support machine for Freddy Funko.

I liked the idea of the boxes being just as important as the pops.
